To Do in New Bern

Tryon Palace is an impressive palace built in the 1600s and lovingly reconstructed in the 1950's.  They always have activities and tours along with extensive gardens and are only 3 houses up the street from our B&B.

There are dozens of wonderful restaurants and pubs, some with live music, in New Bern - we can personally recommend many of them including  MJ's, Captain Rattys, Baxters. Cork, Morgans Tavern, The Chelsea, Cypress Hall, Persimmons (great waterfront seating) 

This is a fun, growing craft beer district - "Tap That", "FreshWater Beer Co" and "Brewery 99" are all within a short walking distance and offer a variety of beverages.  There is also food (either sit down or via wonderful, unique food trucks) available as well.

We have several antique shops, flea markets, and other unique shops, along with the farmers market (Saturday mornings!) all within walking distance or a short drive.

There is a river walk path around downtown along the waterfront with  benches to take a moment rest and take in the lovely view.

There are also several walking tour maps available at the North Carolina Historic Museum  -  found right along the river walk just blocks from our home.

There are several "self-service"  bicycle rental pickup/drop off points throughout the city - the closest is 2 blocks from our B&B.  You can use the Movatic app

There is fishing right in New Bern, from several locations along the water.

New Bern also offers various Water Area Boat Ramps, Boat Tours and Guide Services, as well as Paddleboard, Canoes and Kayaks - more detail on all of these is available on the Visit New Bern website https://visitnewbern.com/wateractivities/

We are also only 40 minutes from Atlantic beach, which makes for a great day trip!

- "Ghosts of New Bern" ghost walk that many of our guests enjoy!

We get a monthly magazine with a great daily listing of the Music, Art, Theater, and Misc going on's  in New Bern and surrounding areas (there is always something going on!) that we provide to our guests.  It is old school, printed out and includes alot of other good "advertising" detail on the restaurants and shops as well as a map of the area.
